What is a person to do when it looks like this outside?

Well since everyone is home today at my house for a snow day we decided to take a trip to Target. (I know we are crazy!) My daughter wanted to purchase some boots with the remainder of her birthday money and they happened to be on sale this week. (I am so proud! lol) Since we were at a different Target I looked to see if they had more glade candles so I could submit for my 3rd $5 Rebate. Sure enough they did! YAY! We also found a few more pleasant surprises while we were there. Here is the breakdown. We got all of this

Total before Coupons and Sales $61.86
Total out of pocket $5.85
Total % Saved 91%

HERE IS THE WHAT I GOT

Transactions #1
3 Glade Scented Oil Candle tins
$2.50-$1.50 coupon inside tin
FINAL PRICE
$1.50 each

3 Glade Scented Oil Candle Refills (4pk)
$2.50- Buy 1 Candle Tin Get 1 Refill Free blinkies
FINAL PRICE
FREE

For buying 5 glade products you get a $5 gift card to use on your next purchase. I chose to do my purchases in two transactions today so I used it on the next transaction. (to follow)
I also paid for this transaction with the $5 GC from the last glade deal I did and will submit for the $5
SC Johnson Rebate I mentioned earlier. So this transaction cost me nothing OOP.

Transaction #2
6 pkg. Keebler Chips Deluxe Cookies
$2.00 (buy 2 get 1 free)-(3) $1.50/2
printable coupons-(2) $1/2 target printable coupons
FINAL PRICE
$0.25 each
These would have been $0.08 each if I had not lost another $1/2 target printable in the store :(. Oh well I guess $0.25 each is still a good price. These are great for my hubbies Sunday school class. They love treats!

2 Febreeze Noticables holiday scented oil starter kit
$4.99-$4/1 insert coupon
FINAL PRICE
$0.99 each

2 pkg. Nabisco Graham Crackers
$2.79-$1/2 mailer coupon -$1/2
target printable
FINAL PRICE
$1.79 each
These are the last two crackers I needed to mail in my Keebler rebate linked below. It will refund $1 per box making these $0.79 each. Not bad!

1 pr. Cute Brown Mary Jane Shoes for Naomi
on clearance for $4.98

Total was $12.74
I used my $5 GC from the 1st transaction, the left over GC that I paid for the 1st transaction with ($1.39)and 1 other gift card I had with a $0.50 balance left on it.

All said I paid $5.85 and will be submitting for this rebate and this rebate. Making my total OOP after all that -$1.15! :)

My advice...if you are crazy enough to go out in this to score some great deals...BE CAREFUL! The roads had gotten significantly worse by the time we headed home. The deals will be there all week so just stay inside and make yourself a steaming cup of hot cocoa!

For all of those couponers out there that are tired of lugging an unsightly binder to the store or have yet to find a way to organize your coupons. I have just the solution for you! The gals @ FabuLESSly Frugal have an AWESOME giveaway currently for these ADORABLE coupon purses from Stylin Binders. They are so cute! I only wish I had come up with the idea first. :) I would love to turn in my crazy big zipper coupon binder for one of these babies. Then maybe I would not be so embarrassed to lug my coupons around town. Ok...who are we kidding I have lost all sense of dignity since I started couponing. ;) That doesn't mean I don't want to be cute AND frugal. lol. So get on over to FabulLESSly Frugal to enter their giveaway and maybe one of us will look a little cuter while saving $$. Good luck!

Monday

I made an extra stop (unplanned) @ Target to help a friend of mine learn the ropes of couponing. So I got back a lot later than I planned but it was fun to spend time with my sweet friend who I haven't been able to see for a while. While I was helping her with the glade candle deal I mentioned here I realized that someone (or many someones) had cleaned Target out of their holiday candles! Did you all go shopping after I posted it? lol ;) Maybe there are more couponers in my town than I thought. There were exactly 3 of the holiday tins left and they had plenty of the refills which was enough for her to do one transaction. But I will have to search another Target for more glade candles so I can do one more transaction so I can submit for my third $5 rebate. I picked up more blinkie coupons from the Albertsons on University if others would like to do the deal. Kings and Safeway were both out by me. Anyway...here is the breakdown of my trip to King Soopers and Target.

Good thing we have snowshoes I can bring it to you ;).

This morning (while my little one was at a playdate) I stopped at Sunflower Market, Albertsons and Costco. Each week it sounds as if I am running all day when in fact I am not. It does take time...don't get me wrong. However most of that time is spent in the comfort of my own home planning. I do this while winding down at night or watching a movie with the kids. My morning grocery run took me about 1 1/2 hours this morning and that includes drive time. So not too bad. Here is the breakdown.

Off to do my afternoon trip...only King Soopers so I will update soon!

Menu Plan Monday

Its a new week so we've got a new menu. I have realized a few things in my planning the last few weeks.
1. We end up having a lot more left overs than I account for so I will accommodate my menu accordingly this week.
2. My husband who has a weakness for eating out has found my weakness. I do not like to cook after grocery shopping all day on Monday. Last week he talked me into going out because I was exhausted and we spent on 1 dinner what I spent on 1/3 of this weeks groceries! UGH! It does me no good to save all this money if we throw it out on one meal. I am all for eating out on occasion but it needs to be well planned with coupons so we don't break the bank. Monday night I was not prepared. So this week to remedy the problem I planned to have frozen pizza on Monday. That way I can relax after a long day of shopping and not feel so guilty about not cooking a "real" meal. :)

Here is what we are having this week

Breakfast
Cereal & Fruit
Pancakes (from my freezer) & Fruit
Hard boiled Eggs & Fruit
Oatmeal & Fruit
Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins & Fruit
Spinach and Mushroom Frittata (left over from dinner the night before) & Fruit

Lunch (The quick stuff is for Naomi's lunches. We mostly eat leftovers or frozen meals)
Ramen Noodles and Grapes
Hot Dogs & Celery Sticks
Lots of Left Overs
Cheese Quesadillas and Cucumber Slices
Nachos
Frozen (Lean Cuisine type) Meals

Dinner
Frozen Pizza & Salad
BBQ Chicken Drumsticks, Spinach Salad and Baked Potatoes
Spinach and Mushroom Frittata & Fruit
Philly Cheesesteaks, Chips and Cut-up Veggies
Halloween Get Together- Baked Potato Soup, Caramel Apple Cider, Apples & Creamy Caramel Dip
Spaghetti, Garlic Bread and Salad

Snacks
Cucumbers
Granola Bars
Yogurt
Pineapple
Apples
Pears
Bananas
Applesauce
Popcorn
Carrot Sticks
Crackers & Cheese

We are also having a Fall Festival @ the school this week which will take care of 1 dinner. I would be happy to email recipes if you would like. I don't usually like to post them because I would feel like I need beautiful pictures of my food and that is just not my specialty. What are you having this week?

Saturday

I was able to do a quick Walgreens trip this evening on my way home. I was in and out in 15 minutes which for me is some kind of record in Walgreens. I am still not sure that the Register Rewards program is worth all of the time and effort but for now I am still using it. I think if ever I get too overwhelmed with couponing it will definitely be the first to go. But tonight worked out pretty well for me.
I got all of this (sorry for the poor picture)

for $3.30 out of pocket and got $7 in RR to spend next visit.
My total savings was $49.40 which is 93% savings...not too bad.

I started with $5 in RR
earned and spent an addition $9 in RR
and have $7 in Register Rewards to spend next time.
My idea was to continues transactions until I used all of my RR. That way I didn't have to worry about them expiring, but they were out of some things on the last half of my list so I just stopped where I was. If you have questions about the Walgreens RR program let me know. I would be happy to share what I know

10.24.09

I decided to go to Safeway today to hit their weekend sale and I am glad I did. Some of the deals were even better than I planned. I was able to stock up on Ragu (definitely a supply that will last us a while) which is great. I also went planning to buy their Nabisco crackers that were on sale for $0.99. The only ones listed on the ads were plain triscuts and wheat thins. I was planning on paying $0.50 a box and then submitting them for this rebate to get $1.00 a box back. Making it a $0.50 profit. (I will be purchasing the rest to make the full 10 on Monday) But when I got there I saw that they had ALL varieties if wheat thins for $0.99 each. I had picked up some tearpad coupons at walmart for a $1.00/1 for a few of the new specialty varieties a few weeks ago. This not only makes them free but I can still submit for the rebate meaning... I will get paid $4 a box for these crackers!! I think I have officially become one of those people who gets paid for buying groceries my family eats. Funny, just a year ago I didn’t really believe “those” people existed. lol. I am definitely a realist. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. There is always a catch. I am here to happily report that I was wrong at least in this case (don’t tell my husband I said that. ;) ).

Here is the breakdown of my trip.

Total before Coupons and Sales $121.17
Total out of Pocket $29.71
Total % Saved 75%

HERE IS THE WHAT I GOT

4 pkg. American beauty pasta (1#)
$0.69 each

2 (1#) rolls Bob Evans Pork Sausage

FINAL PRICE
$1.15

6 # Gala Apples
$0.50 per #

1 bag Fresh Express Spinach
$1.00-$1.00/1 catalina coupon (somebody left it behind so I got it on my transaction )

FREE

3 pkg. Nabisco Wheat Thins Flatbread Crackers
$0.99-$1/1 tearpad coupon
FINAL PRICE
FREE

1 box Wheat Thin Artisan Cheese Crackers
$0.99-$1/1 peelie coupon

1 can ravioli

So for just $29.71 I got all of this.
and I am halfway to submitting my $10 Nabisco rebate!

Man the deals just keep coming!!!! I know it seems like I have been running around a lot but really we haven't. Since Makayla has been home this week we have been to Target on "mommy daughter dates" :). She has a Target gift card from her birthday there she has been wanting to use. Well one of the things she bought didn't fit so we returned it today. While I was there I decided to check out a little deal that I heard about here. Even though it wasn't marked at the display it worked! Plus I found a few little gems from the clearance section. The cute butterfly plates and napkins are for Naomi's birthday party in January. The gift bag was just cute and a nice neutral baby gift bag. Somehow I never have boy baby gift bags on hand...sorry I am getting off topic. I got all of the items above for just $3.40! Can you believe that? Plus the deal gets sweeter. I also got a $5 gift card to spend on my next shopping trip to Target (which really isn't everyday I promise.lol) AND I will get to submit for a 2- $5 rebates from here ( you can submit up to 3). So Target and SC Johnson are actually paying me to make my house smell like apple cinnamon wonderfulness (yes I know that is not a real word). Here is how I did the deal

Transaction #1

3 glade holiday candle tins $2.50 each -$1.50/1 coupons found inside the tins (check the ones in the back of the shelf)

3 glade holiday candle refills $2.50-Buy one candle get a refill free blinkie coupon ( I found mine at Albertsons or you can go here and print 2 ( just press the back button to print a second) If you don't have the blinkies you only need to purchase 2 of these to get the gift card. I only got three because I had the blinkies.

Total OOP $3.22

Get a $5 Target gift card with purchase

Transaction #2

3 glade holiday candle tins $2.50 each - $1.50 /1 coupons found inside the tins

3 glade holiday candle refills $2.50- Buy one candle get a free refill blinkie coupon

1 gift bag $0.74

1(10ct) butterfly plates $.74

1 (10ct) butterfly napkins $0.34

used my $5 gift card received from the last transaction

TOTAL OOP $0.18

Get another $5 Target gift card with purchase

TOTAL Spent in cash $3.40

I have $5 GC plus my $10 in rebates I will get back. I made $11.60 today just for shopping at Target! :)

Also if you plan to submit the rebate make sure you do separate transactions as you will need separate receipts to submit for each $5 rebate. I am not sure how long this deal lasts (I heard a rumor through January but I am not sure) so get your fanny over to Target!

The kids and I decided to go to Wal-mart today to pick up a few last minute items for Halloween Costumes and while I was there I realized there were a few items I had forgotten to pick up at other stores. The more I shop the more I realize that my old way of thinking was SO SO WRONG! I used to think that Wal-mart's prices were better than anyone elses. Other than the fact that they have raised their prices on just about everything, they really are not that pleasant to shop with. I decided to price match a few more bags of candy as I had another coupon I found later that day that would make for decent prices. They were fine with the price matching but then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't price match and use a coupon. This, I explained to the manager, doesn't make sense as they are getting reimbursed for the full value of the coupon whether I price match or not. They are not losing any money for me using the coupon! After waiting (with 3 impatient people in line behind me) for about 5 minutes for another manager to give her the ok, she decided to go ahead and do it. Next time I will definitely just do my price matching (especially where coupons are involved) at Target if I can help it. So frustrating! Here is the breakdown of what I got.

Total before Coupons and Sales $11.57
Total out of Pocket $9.83
Total % Saved 15%

HERE IS THE WHAT I GOT

4 bags of Reeses Candy
Price Matched Toys R Us Ad @ $1.74 (reg. $2.50) -B3GOF
FINAL PRICE
$1.30
I know this does not seem like a great deal… I realized the other coupons I planned to use on the deal were expired already. BOO!

2 cans Kidney Beans
$0.75 each
2 cans Pinto Beans
$0.72 each

1 pkg. great value cream cheese
$1.67
OUCH! After purchasing the Philadelphia brand a month or so ago for $0.79 each this one hurt.

What is funny is after looking at the poor savings in this transaction I realized it is almost exactly what I was doing before I started my system. I was using coupons to save a little but mostly paying high price for everything. It is the perfect example of what having a stockpile can do for you. Had I had these things in stock (the beans and the cream cheese) I would not have had to pay through the nose for it. I guess it shows progress if this small transaction was as painful to me as it was. I know it is only a few cents but I have really learned how a few cents here and there really do add up to hundreds of dollars. I vow to do better! I sure hope they have a bean sale soon. Chili season is here!!!

Sorry I am late getting this up. The kids and I have been having lots of fun this week and it has gotten me sidetracked. We did go to King Soopers and Target yesterday evening and I was so excited about the deals we got (mostly at Target). Not only did Target price match an ad for Toys R Us's cheap candy but I was able to combine it with Target coupons and Manufactures coupons to get some great deals. AND to top it off most of the bags that I bought had $0.55/1 peelie coupons on them that I will most likely use next week (if I need more after the trunk or treat on Friday) or pass on to my couponing friends. I also scored some free Rolaids that we will most likely need after all the crazy candy holiday coming up.lol. I could go on and on but I will just break it down for you in one shot. It is really ridiculous how excited I get about sales and coupons.lol. Here you go!

Monday

Well it is fall break, meaning both of my kiddos are home. That combined with my youngest playdate cancelling because of sickness, I had both of them tag along with me with me this morning. It was surprisingly not bad. I think it was because I prepped everything well last night. I was able to stop at Albertsons, Sunflower Market and Costco and get home by 11:30am. For those who missed last week's post Albertsons is still doubleing/tripling/ quadrupling coupons this week. meaning any coupon under $1.00 will be worth $1.00. Anything $1.00 and over will just be worth face value. They say that they will not double a coupon that states that it cannot be doubled. However they doubled mine today that said "no doubling". Funny enought the only problems I had with them doubling were the ones I used last week that did not state "no doubling". Go figure. I had to have them correct it today. They also had an unadvertised promo on Pilsbury products (many of which were on sale). Spend $10 in participating products and get and addition $2.00 off. Even without coupons made for some decent deals. Products included (strictly from my really bad memory) Pilsbury Flour 5 # bags (cheaper than Sams), Crisco Sticks, Cake Mixes, Prosting, Crisco Oil, Brownie Minis Mix, Pilsbury Easy Frost and I think there were a few more that I am forgetting. I still need to hit Target and Kings this afternoon. Here is what I got this morning.

PS. If you have any great potato recipes please pass them along. We get tired of the regulars quickly. :)
I would like to start off by saying that I definitely do not know EVERYTHING about the system that I use. I am new to this. That being said I would like to share with you the basics about the system that has worked for me. If you are looking to save a little bit of money each month on your grocery bill (or a LOT), or would like to build up a storage of food / supplies (whether a lot or a little) for emergencies or times when you cant make it to the store for a week because you are snowed in. :) I want you to know that it really is possible. I was a total skeptic in the beginning. I have used coupons before. I have never been able to save like this! So here goes.

LESSON #1 HOW TO NEVER PAY FULL PRICE FOR FOOD/CLEANERS/TOILETRIES / PAPER PRODUCTS

In order for something to be a good deal it has to be something that you will use AND be at a super price. So what I did was start by making a list of 20 meals that I prepare on a regular basis ( I used excel for this because it makes it a bit easier to sort things). I also listed the ingredients that I would need to make these meals. Then I divided that list into things that I could store (in my freezer, fridge or pantry) and things that don't store well. As you make this list you will notice there are things that you will have listed more than once. I put a * for each time it was listed next to the ingredient so I will know the frequency of which I would use it.

Now that you have your list compiled your lists you want to be searching the sale papers for those things that are on your "storable" list. I printed a list from here that divides product prices into three categories. The basic Wal-Mart/ Costco / Sams Club prices, the deals that come around frequently, and the "stock up" price. I took her list and updated it to be more accurate for Colorado (specifically Castle Rock) and would be happy to share it. Just leave a comment if you would like me to email you a copy. If you would like a copy of it just let me know and I will email it to you. This list will help you to know when the prices are at or below the "stock up" price. When an item that is on your list hits that level you want to be able to purchase as much as you think you will use before it hits that price again. This is how my "never pay full price" rule comes into play. When you purchase enough at the stock up price, eventually you will have a stock of those items you use regularly and never have to purchase something at full price because you ran out. This does take time but as you will see below it doesn't take as much time as you would think. All that being said let me issue a word of caution. Pay attention to expiration dates and how much you actually will USE. If you over buy and end up throwing food away because you did not use it before it expires than it is no different than paying full price. You are throwing $$ away. Trust me...I am speaking from experience on this one. Apparently we do not use as much sour cream as I thought we did. :)

In general most items that you buy to use up (what I call "usables") go on sale every 4-12 weeks at their "stock up" price. This is not a hard and fast rule. There are a few exceptions here.

1. Produce-typically goes on the "lowest price" sale when it is in season. Now is the time that we will see a lot of apples and pears on sale around here but it all depends on where you live and what grows there.

2. Baking Supplies (flour, sugar, etc.)- Typically there do not hit their stock up price until November or December.

3. Think seasonal- BBQ sauce, ketchup and other condiments are usually at stock up prices in the summer. Snacks and Peanut butter typically drop to their "stock up" price in August when school is starting. I could go on but I am sure you get the point.

Like I said...there are exceptions but this is the general rule.

After a while (once you have a little stockpile built up) you will start to notice you grocery bill dropping each week. I am now at the point that I plan my menu each week based on those things that do NOT store well.

For example if asparagus is at a great price I will make my summer pasta salad that has asparagus in it. The other ingredients are mostly things that I have stored like sausage (in the freezer), penne pasta, chipolte chili powder, garlic salt, olive oil, onions, bell peppers (both bought fresh, chopped and stored in the freezer), frozen corn, and dry ranch dressing mix. The only other ingredients I would need are tomatoes and avocado. If either of those are on sale that week...BONUS. If not they can be left out.

So I challenge you to start paying attention to sales around you. Just because something says its on sale doesn't mean it is a good deal. Get your list of 20 meals and ingredients compiled. If you make a menu each week you can just pick from meals on this list. This is not to say you cannot branch out and try new things once in a while. I have a list of recipes that I would like to try. I am waiting for the key ingredients that I don't normally store to go on sale. If you HATE making a menu this plan can still work for you. Just start with your meal ideas. Then you will always have most of what you needs to make meals your family likes on hand.

I hope this helps inspire some of you to see what you can do with your grocery budget to cut it down a little bit. If you have any questions I would be happy to try to answer them.

NEXT LESSON- How coupons can help you to reduce your grocery budget and attain your "stock" sooner.

This weekend Safeway was having a great weekend sale so I decided to go a little early this week. I also had quite a few coupons from a mailer that I received from Safeway that helped me to score a few items for free. YAY!!! I love FREE! Rachel (my SIL) came with me again...this time for her own shopping trip. I was so impressed! She had a whole cartload of groceries for only $50. Since she is moving next week and they will be starting with nothing so she came to stock up. Lets just say she learned the ropes REALLY quickly. She saved $110 on her shopping trip. Awesome job Rach! Here is a breakdown of my trip. Although I was really pleased with my trip I didn't do nearly as well $110. Here is the breakdown.

(sorry I am not the best at taking pictures)

I decided since Scott was in class tonight to attempt my Walgreens run tonight with kids. I know I have said over the past few weeks that that particular situation has always ended in disaster, but I figured if it was not working I could just leave and come back later. What is funny is just when I was getting ready to write Walgreens off because of it being so darn frustrating my transactions tonight went off without a hitch. I will say I did spend some major time planning at home. Figuring exactly what I would get in each transaction and combed through it all to make sure the # of items were right so that helped trmendously. I split up the Ragu with my SIL Rachel who is getting ready to move into her first home and will need to stock up on a few basics so that is why there are only 2 pictured but 8 purchased. Since Makayla wanted to go to Target to spend some of her birthday money I decided to check out a few things while I was there. I was not super impressed by the ad this week so wasn't expecting much. however I had heard of a few "possible" deals in the blogosphere so I thought I would just look since I was already there. Lets just say I scored BIG! The peanut butter was dirt cheap and since I price matched a Walgreens ad (only some stores do this so call first) I didn’t have to bother with their register rewards. YAY!!! The Clorox wipes were just something I stumbled upon and couldn't believe how well it worked. Check it out below! It is a little funny how excited I am about Clorox wipes, Diapers and Peanut Butter.lol. Anyway here is the breakdown.

Monday

10.12.09

I decided this week to divide up my shopping into two days because my SIL wants to tag a long tomorrow to kind of learn the ropes. Today I shopped at Albertsons, Sams Club and Sunflower Market. Albertsons is having some spectacular deals and they are doubling/tripling/quadrupling coupons up to $1. Which means there were many things that I got for free. I noticed after I got home that they did not double a few of my coupons so next week when I go in I will have to have them fix it. My total would have been a whole $3.80 cheaper if they had gotten the coupons correct. If you missed Albertsons sale I did hear the Albertsons on University is doubling next week as well. So I am sure there will be some more great deals next week. You can check this link tomorrow and it should have the updated sale information for all of the stores here in CO. I would call your Albies first though to make sure they are doubling. They were out of a few things that I wanted but I was able to get a rain check with a note on there to double my coupons all of the items I got my rain checks on will be free after coupons so I was pretty happy about that. Overall I felt it was worth the trip. I bought a few things I normally wouldn’t just because they were free, like the warm delights and the Betty Crocker instant potatoes. The potatoes are nice to have on hand for thickening soups and for camping. It looks like this week seems to be all about stocking my freezer. I will post the rest of my shopping tomorrow. Here is the breakdown for this trip.

Menu Plan Monday

I know that I have said this over and over again but I am constantly amazed at how much this system works. Here I have planned a whole week menu and really am mostly using things that I already have on hand. I have also noticed that my shopping habits are beginning to change. Instead of buying things that are good prices I am now really only looking for things that are ROCK BOTTEM prices. The exciting part is that I am meeting BOTH of my goals simultaneously.

#1 Build of a storage of about 3 months worth or foods/ toiletries / and paper products (what I call consumables) that we use on a regular basis. The idea is that sales come around every 3 months or so (sometimes less). So if I have a 3 month supply of most items (other than things that need to be bought fresh) I will never have to pay full price for anything.

#2 Reduce my budget for food so I can use the saved money elsewhere. I will admit I really did not think it would be possible to reach both goals at the same time. Buy more and spend less seems like an oxymoron right?! But I am here to tell you that not only is it possible but it is sooo easy. It is not rocket science…it just takes time (a few hours a week). I will try to post some pictures later this week of our storage so you can get an idea of what you can do in 2 ½ months. Until then here is what we are having this week.

Breakfast- we will repeat come of these
Pancakes (made earlier and frozen)
Cereal
Oatmeal
Breakfast Burritos
Fruit

Lunch-
PBJ & Apple slices
Hot Dogs & Celery Sticks
Chicken Noodle Soup
Frozen Pizza and baby Carrots
Lots of Left Overs

Dinner-
Left Overs
Chicken Rolls, Mashed Potatoes & Green Beans (never made it last week)
BBQ Pork Sandwiches and Corn
Grilled Turkey Cheese Sandwiches and Tomato Soup
Tacos
Fried Rice & Pot Stickers
Beef Stew and Bread Bowls

Snacks-
Yogurt (we still have quite the surplus.lol)
Popcorn
Carrots
Crackers
Granola Bars
Cantelope

Apples
Celery Sticks
Strawberries
Pears
Bananas
Oranges
Chips & Salsa

Dessert-
Chocolate Mousse ( I never got to make it last week)

If you would like any of the recipes just let me know I would be happy to email them to you. If you have a second please leave me a comment with what you are having…or even what you had last week.

It was a pretty good trip albeit long. It was nice to stock up on some things. :) I will update later this week. :)

Monday

So I just wanted to update that I did hit Costco and King Soopers once more this week. I forgot a few essentials for birthday celebrations. The deals were not the best but I did the best I could under the circumstances. Then I hit Costco to take advantage of a few coupon deals they had that were decent and things I happen to be low on. The soup was a total convenience buy for a lady I was supposed to bring dinner to that was sick. With Scott out of town I really didn't want to cook and I only needed enough for three servings for her. So it was definitely overpriced but a must have as I didn't have time to pull together a dinner that evening. Anyways here is the breakdown. Keep in the mind the savings % is skewed as it is a Costco trip and their prices are already discounted.

Total before Coupons and Sales $77.76
Total out of Pocket $57.00
Total % Saved 27%

HERE IS THE WHAT I GOT
2 cans duncan heinz frosting $1.67 each

1 box (8ct) Marie Callendars Pot Pies $7.39
2 pkg. (100ct) Electrasol Dish Tabs $9.19 each
1 large container fresh chicken noodle soup $9.99
1 pkg. (216 ct) ziplock freezer quart bags $8.05

So I am officially over budget for the week by $23.86 meaning I will need to cut back a little next week to stay on track for the month. I am glad that I have this blog it has been so much easier to keep track of these things. :)
